THE FINAL COUNTDOWN

Welcome to my very first blog post for my DFX portfolio! If I’m being honest, typing that title feels a little surreal. We are officially in the "Final Countdown" era of my college career. On one hand, I am absolutely electric with excitement to finally bring this vision to life and be down with this horrid school. On the other hand? I’m definitely feeling those senior-year, only because I am taking very pointless classes.

There’s something a little terrifying about realizing that I’m about to step out into the "real world" but I have a safety net of these college resources I’ve leaned on for years. It’s like the training wheels are coming off. Woooooohooooooo

For my DFX452 research,  My problem statement was "How can a logo be transformed into a dynamic brand system through the strategic use of color, shape, lighting, texture, photography, video, and animation to create cohesive applications across mockups, physical spaces, and advertising?"

I want to see how far a single idea can stretch. I’m moving past flat design and exploring how a brand lives and how it feels when it’s plastered on a billboard, how it moves in an animation, and how it transforms a physical space.

Where I Am Right Now 🛠️

Right now, I am deep in the "creation station." I’ve spent the last few weeks finalizing my three core logo concepts and defining their initial brand systems. It isn’t just about picking colors, it’s about finding the right textures and the specific "vibe" of the photography that will represent these brands i've made up..

Currently, I’m working on:

  • Refining the "Big Three": Polishing those three final logo designs so they can stand on their own.
  • Building the World: Developing unique palettes, shapes, and textures for each system.
  • The First Mockups: I’m starting to visualize how these brands look in todays world, thinking about buildings, digital ads, and even apparel(for one).
  • I am hoping by the time I am done with this project this helps me bridge. The gap between student works and professional works. I want to put my best foot out there by creating intricate designs that at least let employers know that I can learn fast and I have an eye for design.
